Does
Eco-Cool Roof work on all roofing surface types?
Eco-Cool Roof is specifically designed to work on both low sloped and
steep sloped roofing surfaces. Eco-Cool Roof 5000 exhibits extraordinary adhesion and performance on concrete and metal
roofing, and it also is ideally suited to be used as a top coat over polyurea aromatic spray systems.
Does Eco-Cool
Roof qualify for LEED points if incorporated into a project design?
According to the guidelines set forth for LEED
certification by the United States Building Council, a low sloped roof must exhibit an SRI Value (Solar Reflectance Index)
> 78 to qualify for Sustainable Site Credit 7.2: Heat Island Effect: Roof. Eco-Cool Roof 5000 exhibits an SRI Value
of 106 far exceeding the USGBC’s guidelines and delivering superior energy efficiency to the structure.
What
energy savings can be expected with Eco-Cool Roof?
In most cases, installing a cool roofing system will result in superb
energy savings. Variables such as existing roofing type (i.e. asphalt, built-up, bare aluminum, gravel, etc.) and R-Value
of sub-roofing insulation will affect the percentage decrease in cooling demand and peak and off-peak energy consumption.
On average, Eco-Cool Roof 5000 will produce a cooling demand reduction by 25-40% in climate controlled facilities and as much
as a 30 degree internal ambient air temperature reduction in un-air conditioned facilities.
How does Eco-Cool Roof compare to other cool
roofing systems?
Eco-Cool Roof 5000 is one of the most cost-effective cool roofing systems available on the market.
Providing up to 40% reduction in energy consumption at a fraction of the cost of other cool roofing systems such as Single-Ply
Thermoplastic systems (TPO & PVC), Built-Up Roofing (BUR), Foam Roofing Systems or Green vegetative roofs.
Our coating system
delivers the most long-term value for the most economically sensible investment.
Can Eco-Cool Roof resist persistent
standing water?
Although Eco-Cool Roof achieves best results on low-sloped roofs that permit water to
drain from the building’s roof, it is highly resilient to standing water. The polymer strands of the 100% elastomeric
resins that form the base for Platinum Exterior 1000 cure by interlinking virtually creating a woven mesh of coating that
is extremely durable and long-lasting.
Does Eco-Cool Roof help mitigate the Urban Heat Island effect?
The EPA defines
a Heat Islands as areas that occur on the surface and in the atmosphere. On a hot, sunny summer day, the sun can heat dry,
exposed urban surfaces, such as roofs and pavement, to temperatures 50–90°F (27–50°C) hotter than the
air, while shaded or moist surfaces—often in more rural surroundings—remain close to air temperatures. Surface
urban heat islands are typically present day and night, but tend to be strongest during the day when the sun is shining.
Eco-Cool Roof 5000
actively prevents buildings from absorbing afternoon solar energy, minimizing the ambient air temperature above and around
the structure, creating cooler temperatures in areas that surround the building.
Does Eco-Cool Roof help prevent roof leaks
from occurring?
Eco-Cool Roof 5000 is a 100% pure Elastomeric coating that demonstrates exceptional elongation allowing
it to “move” with the expansion and contraction of the substrate as well as make it ideal to bridge surface cracks
to prevent moisture penetration into the structure.
Does Eco-Cool Roof allow the building to “breathe”, effectively
allowing trapped vapors to escape the structure?
Many cool roofing systems create such an air tight barrier that moisture
and condensation that accumulates within a building is not free to escape through micro-pores in the building’s envelope.
This often permits the growth and proliferation of molds and mildews within interior walls. Eco-Cool Roof 5000 has an industry
leading Perm Rating of 1.34. The product will not permit moisture intrusion from the exterior, but will allow trapped vapors
to escape to the exterior of the building contributing to the prevention mold and mildew growth.
Is Eco-Cool Roof an eco-friendly product?
Eco-Cool Roof 5000
is a water-based, Zero VOC exterior coating. Eco-Cool Roof 5000 contains no harmful solvents, only natural water, so it will
not off-gas or contribute to the production of ozone or other air pollutants.
Eco-Cool Roof 5000 actively creates a healthier
environment by mitigating the Urban Heat Island effect and reducing a coated facility’s carbon emissions resulting from
energy consumption.
Lastly, in comparison to other products that rely on overseas suppliers for the raw materials, all
the materials used to produce Eco-Cool Roof 5000 are developed or retrieved within 500 miles of the production facility thus
reducing the products Carbon Footprint.
Do I need special equipment to install Eco-Cool Roof?
Eco-Cool Roof 5000
applies like regular paint and can be brushed, rolled, or applied with an airless sprayer. To achieve optimal adhesion and
performance, ensure the surface is properly cleaned and free of surface contaminants*.
How long before recoating with Eco-Cool Roof
to maintain optimal performance?
Eco-Cool Roof 5000 is guaranteed to maintain its performance of a period of ten (10) years;
however, many of our customers have received sustained performance for periods longer than fifteen (15) years.
