WHAT IS LEED ACCREDITATION?
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building
Rating System™ encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building
and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance
criteria. LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully
steward the LEED certification process.
WHY GREEN CERTIFY?
Aside from LEED certification, there are many other reasons to choose a “Green”
alternative product in any industry. More and more companies are recognizing that environmentally responsible design
and production are an integral part of their mission and the value they want to deliver to their customers. Green product
testing and implementation sends a clear message: “We care about improving the health and welfare of people and the
planet.”
By
identifying, certifying, and promoting environmentally responsible products and services, “Green” certification:
1. Improves the environment by reducing toxic pollution and waste, conserving resources and habitats,
and minimizing global warming and ozone depletion
2. Increases health and well being, particularly in populations most
affected by product choice, such as as schoolchildren, service staff and the elderly
3. Demonstrates to various business segments
that environmentally responsible products can improve quality and boost profitability
